Phew! A quick report on SAFe 5.0 in the marketplace
Hi Folks, It probably goes without saying that the release of SAFe 5.0 was a pretty big deal. Expanding from technical agility to Business Agility was no small feat. It required the addition of new competencies for Organizational Agility and Continuous Learning Culture. All the competency articles were either written from scratch or largely rewritten and ‘mob reviewed’ by the entire Framework team. 30 – 40 other articles were written, rewritten, or extensively edited. 80.
SAP Delivery Agility: Applying Essential SAFe to large-scale SAP implementations and operations
Hello, For over two decades now, proponents of Agile have had to contend with the myth that “you can’t use Agile for X,” where X represents high-assurance systems, systems subject to rigorous regulatory requirements, cyber-physical systems, systems with known and fixed requirements, systems for national defense and security, big data systems, and so on. I’ve been around long enough to have a sense of why these perceptions arise, so I always respond by simplifying Agile.
An interview about SAFe, Agile and big data, and more
Hi Folks, I was recently interviewed by Cisco business architect Venkat Narayan about SAFe, Agile and big data. It quickly evolved into a broader perspective on things like TQM, Lean Six Sigma and more, and most importantly (from my perspective!) why SAFe works as well as it does. I think it’s an interesting interview with one or two helpful insights. Check it out here. —Dean
Introducing a preview of SAFe 5.0
Hello Folks, On behalf of the entire Scaled Agile team and the SAFe Contributors, we are delighted to announce a preview of SAFe® 5.0 for Lean Enterprises. Why is this update important? Globalization, fast-moving markets, disruption, the unprecedented pace of technological innovation. Organizations know that they need to transform—now—to compete. But their existing business models, organizational hierarchy, and technology infrastructure simply can’t keep up with how quickly the company needs to adapt. Agile product delivery isn’t enough. You need business agility..
What’s in store at the 2019 Global SAFe® Summit
In just a few weeks, 2,000 members of the SAFe® community will gather for the 2019 Global SAFe Summit in San Diego from September 29 – October 4 at the Marriott Marquis. I continue to be humbled at how people like you have helped us grow this event from humble beginnings into one of the industry’s must-attend experiences. This year’s Global SAFe Summit is nearly sold out, our event agenda is packed, and we’ve got.
Microsoft and Scaled Agile team up to give back to veterans
When I learned about Microsoft’s new program, Agile for Good, I was honored that a few passionate SPCs and others at the company interested in helping our veterans wanted to provide SAFe® Scrum Master training to military veterans and their spouses, free of charge. We jumped at the chance to give back to this community by donating the course licenses. Microsoft decided to offer the course during its 2019 hackathon in July for a few.
Let’s talk about business agility—and a lot more—at Agile 2019
In just over two weeks, many of us at Scaled Agile are headed to Washington, D.C. to engage with the community at Agile 2019. This year’s theme revolves around applying Agile knowledge to boost business value and efficiency. I’d like to personally invite you to visit us at the Scaled Agile booth and attend our presentations on a variety of topics that explore some of the most pressing issues facing today’s enterprise. Here’s a link.
New partner type—Global Transformation Partner—supports globally distributed and highly complex transformation journeys
While the SAFe knowledge base is freely available, it doesn’t implement itself. We provide abundant tactical guidance—such as the SAFe Implementation Roadmap—but there are aspects to large-scale transformations that unquestionably need the steady hands of seasoned experts. There you have the basis for the Scaled Agile Partner Program. When we launched the program in 2013 with a handful of Partners, businesses were mostly applying SAFe in isolated units. As they saw results they began extending.
Dutch Tax and Customs Administration speeds delivery by 3X while transforming long-established culture
“We are delivering faster and more predictably than in the past, which has changed many minds and driven a shift in long-ingrained ways of working.” —Mark Braam, IT Manager/RTE, Interaction Services at DTCA Behind every SAFe transformation, there’s a corresponding cultural shift. And there’s perhaps no environment where that’s tougher to change than in government. That’s what makes our latest case study so impactful. The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (DTCA) has typically been very.
Farewell, Martin Burns.
Recently, the SAFe community, and indeed the entire Agile movement, lost a dear friend and champion. Coach, collaborator, big thinker, and host extraordinaire—I knew Martin Burns to be a truly independent, non-partisan, and deeply thoughtful industry leader. Martin believed in SAFe, passionately, and was a follower of the Framework from its earliest days. In 2013, he attended an SPC class I taught in London where he brought an expansive view of agility, and inherently understood.
